My Story Won't Be a mystery

A MAJOR JOURNEY

Major Keys, the world’s first rapping pianist, hails from the beautiful shorelines of Panama City, Florida, where his passion for music was born. It was there he sharpened his skills in songwriting, piano performance, and producing across multiple genres of music. His path led him from Florida State University’s Jazz Studies program to the studios and stages of Atlanta, New York, Oakland, Miami, and Indianapolis. The journey has been both beautifully tragic and inspiringly tireless.

After a few major production deals fell through, Keys shifted his focus to working in New York’s school system while also mentoring and coaching. It was during this time that his eyes opened to the future of this country and the struggles of its next generation. Out of this season of reflection grew a deeper sense of purpose —
one that continues to fuel his artistry.

Life’s trials have left lasting marks on his story. The gentrification of Brooklyn, the passing of his father, and Hurricane Michael’s devastation of his hometown all weighed heavily. The tragedies didn’t stop there; the pandemic brought more loss, including the death of his beloved baby sister. Yet, through hardship and heartbreak, Major Keys has been chiseled by life and molded by loss, emerging as a dynamic vessel of music for the people in a world that is constantly shifting.

Welcome to the journey. Thank You for joing the Major!

The future

Major Keys envisions a music world where mediocrity is never given a platform, rather the purpose driven and truly gifted are always prioritized.  A world where opening doors for others or passing down skill-sets and opportunity to the next generations is a required tradition.  Rather than the culture of gate keeping which is destroying our communities and country. The children are watching phonies win. This, too, shall come to an end!
